الشبكة العصبية الإصطناعيه التنبؤ بالقيم المستقبلية لظاهرة ما تعد من الحاجات المهمة للكثير من مجالات الدراسات والبحوث العلمية. وهناك خطان للتنبؤ، أولهما باستخدام النماذج السببية (Causal Model) حيث تعتمد القيم المستقبلية لأحد المتغيرات على معرفة قيم أخرى من متغيرات شارحة له من خلال نماذج انحدار خطية (Linear) أو غير خطية (Non-Linear). أما الأسلوب الآخر فهو الاعتماد على النماذج الأحادية مثل نماذج السلاسل الزمنية Time Series، حيث يتم استخدام قيم سابقة من نفس المتغير في التنبؤ بالقيم المستقبلية له. ومن أشهر هذه النماذج نماذج الانحدار الذاتي والمتوسطات المتحركة. )مراجع متوفرة في

The modern usage of the term often refers to artificial neural networks and researcher denoted as (ANN), which are composed of artificial neurons or nodes. Thus the term has two distinct usages: 1. Biological neural networks 2.
